Course Overview
SolidWorks is a 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software mainly used in Mechanical Engineering for creating 3D parts, assemblies, product designs, and manufacturing drawings. It is one of the most popular mechanical design software used in industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Manufacturing, and Product Design.
Introduction & Interface
Learn the software window, menus, toolbars, Feature Manager, Property Manager, and basic commands.
2D Sketching
Create sketches using Line, Circle, Rectangle, Polygon, Arc, Slot, Spline, Trim, Offset, and Smart Dimension tools.
3D Part Modeling
Convert 2D sketches into 3D models using Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, Loft, Rib, and other modeling features.
Feature Tools
Use Fillet, Chamfer, Shell, Draft, Hole Wizard, Mirror, Linear Pattern, Circular Pattern, Move Face, and Delete Face,
Reference Geometry
Create Planes, Axes, Points, and Coordinate Systems for advanced modeling.
Sheet Metal
Design sheet metal components using Base Flange, Edge Flange, Bend, Hem, and Flat Pattern tools.
Weldments
Create structural frames, pipes, and fabrication models.
Assembly Modeling
Assemble multiple parts into a complete machine or product using Mate commands such as Coincident, Parallel, Concentric, and Distance.
Exploded View
Create exploded views to show how different parts fit together during assembly.
2D Drawing
Generate manufacturing drawings with Orthographic Views, Section Views, Detail Views, Dimensions, Notes, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Material & Mass Properties
Apply materials and check weight, volume, density, and center of mass.
Rendering
Create realistic images by applying materials, colors, lighting, and scenes.
Motion Study
Simulate the movement and working of assemblies through animations.
File Export & Sharing
Export models and drawings in PDF, STEP, IGES, STL, DXF, DWG, and other industry-standard formats.
